Lightroom Editing Essentials  - June 27, 2015, 8a to 12p

Knowing when and how to use the powerful and easy to use Development techniques and tools in Lightroom will transform your good photographs into spectacular photographs and still leave you plenty of time to do what you love - photographing. Your instructors, Mike Dolley and Bob Kidd, will show you how to develop your photographs in the time honored traditions founded in the darkroom of our photographic past. We will begin with the essential developing techniques:

  • Make your RAW photos look more like the JPEG image you saw on the back of your camera
  • Set White Balance
  • Viewing Before & After
  • Adjusting Exposure using the histogram and applying the Match Total Exposures feature
  • Setting Black and White points
  • Auto Tone
  • Saving Highlights and opening up shadows
  • Clarity, Vibrance, Contrast and Tone Curve -  creating punch
  • Tone down with Saturation

You will also learn when and how to use selective editing using the edit brush to adjust

  • white balance
  • dark shadows
  • reduce noise
  • retouching portraits

We will explore when and how to use the Radial Filter and the Graduated Filter and the new Brush options for these filters. You will learn how to use the time saving Lightroom techniques to applying changes made to one photograph to other photographs using Copy, Previous, Auto Sync and Sync Settings.

This informative and fun session will be held on Saturday morning--when your learning ability is at its peak -- from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Gallery Room at Bagelz of Wakefield.  In order to maximize your learning experience, class size is limited to photographers who are already familiar with Lightroom and want to develop their photographs further. Bring your laptop with a copy of Lightroom installed on it (Lightroom 4 or higher is required), and your camera with a memory card. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and join us and other like-minded photographers in mastering the digital darkroom. Registration is $99.
