Once a year, Rhode Islanders gather at Quonset Point to participate in a tribal ritual that has existed for the last 25 years: helping create the epic traffic jam that is firmly associated with the RI Air Show. Not being a native Rhode Islander, I have resisted the temptation to join this gathering until this year. Well, I don't mind admitting when I'm wrong. The Air Show is fantastic!
The RI Air Show is an event created by the RI National Guard and, just in case you have never been, here are a few select photographs that I made this year. (You're on your own in fighting over some of that Willow Tree chicken salad, which is the other essential part of the ritual.)
Many thanks to the members of the RI National Guard and special thanks to the Public Affairs representatives who made me feel welcome as their guest at this event.
